Step 4 - During the Exam
It’s easy to say but hard to do. Staying relaxed and getting a great night’s rest before the exam can be challenging to say the least. I hung out with some friends for a couple of hours before trying to sleep and relied on melatonin to get a great sleep. Please check with your physician first and do not take it for the first time on the night of the exam.
30 Minutes Before Exam Time:
Hopefully, you provide ample travel time to get to the exam site. Once you are at your testing site and are familiar with your surroundings, briefly read over your material. Think of it like a warm-up. Do not go in-depth, glance over all the info to spark your memory and get your brain in the right state of mind. Then take a quick trip to the restroom, drink some nice cold water to calm the nerves, and have a small snack if needed.
10 Minutes Before Exam Time:
Practicum version:
By now, you are entering the exam candidate room. Sign in as instructed, pick up exam materials, and find a seat. Finding a seat is important, don't do what I did.
What I did: I picked a seat towards the lecture room's back and left side. The bad news was my terrible view of the monitor. I was a little too far away, and an off-center podium was in my view.
What to do: Hind site is 20/20. I would suggest sitting closer to the front and center of the room. This way, you have a great view of the monitor and can hear the speaker perfectly.
