How my journey began

Hi, I’m Jared, and I am the guy behind O&P Study Guide.com.

When first trying to prepare for my board exams, I was overwhelmed with the amount of material to cover and did not know where to start. So naturally, I took to Google to find a study guide, but this only led me to expensive exam prep courses (that are not even offered any longer).

So that’s when I decided to create my own. Thirteen years ago, using a website was an excellent way to organize and quickly navigate through all the material.

I spent precious time after work and on the weekends trying to figure out exactly what I needed to study. Outlining books and poring over old school power points, I felt like I was drowning in a sea of material. I spent far too much money on study resources and traveled to prep courses I couldn’t really afford, all out of fear of freezing up on a question I wasn’t ready for.

Why I kept it going

Taking all of those prep courses and outlining thousands of pages of information eventually resulted in a set of thorough, no-fluff study guides. I stripped out the excessive information and made them easy to navigate. Why study material you’ll never need, or waste valuable time hunting for that one answer you can’t remember? Along the way, I also picked up some great tools, tips, and tricks for retaining information and staying motivated. At first, this website only existed to help me study for my own boards.

Then my friends started borrowing my organizing skills, even though they had access to the same information I did. They told me my outlines saved them a ton of work. After I received my official certification as a CPO, I was ready to take the website down. Why keep paying for it if I wasn’t going to use it anymore? But my friends and colleagues talked me into keeping it online, and maybe even renovating it. So, since you’ve read this far, that’s exactly what I did.

Updating the website and study guides ended up taking a lot of my time, so I now charge a fee for the study guides to keep the site running and continue improving them.
